The Westchester Striders Track & Field Club, Inc. was incorporated as a New York State not-for-profit corporation in June 2002 for the purpose of providing track & field training to boys and girls ages 6 and up.
We are located in Peekskill, NY — northern Westchester County — and provide training year-round. The Striders were designated a tax-exempt, charitable 501(C)3 organization by the IRS in 2003, for the purpose of:
Ted Bitter is the team's head coach and has been coaching the Westchester Striders since 2004. Ted was a National Class Age Group Distance Runner from 1974 –1990. He ran with the North Shore Track Club, Prospect Park Track Club, and Central Park Track Club. Ted was also the co-founder and coach of the Central Brooklyn Soccer League.
Winston Lewis is the Striders assistant coach and has been with the team since 2005. Coach Winston started running through the CYO as a child and was a sprinter for his Rice HS Track Team. He also ran for the 8th Division while serving as a US Army Paratrooper in Germany from 1962-1963. He started coaching The Zodiacs TC in the Bronx in 1988, under nationally known Coach Robert Taylor, where he received a Level 1 coaching certificate. His philosophy: being a good kid and a good student is more important than being a "fast" runner; but why not strive for all 3!
The Striders are managed by a Board of Directors that is elected by the parents of its members. An Executive Committee, which consists of the officers of the corporation and its coaches, manages the club on a day to day basis.
