Lindsay Sabella Finishes 5th at the 2009 Colgate Women's Games!

Lindsay Sabella finished 5th in the 55 Meter Elementary B Finals at Madison Square Garden at the 35th Annual Colgate Women's Games on January 31, 2009. Her time was 8.33 seconds.

The Colgate Women's Games is the nation's largest amateur track series open to girls from elementary school through college. Held at Brooklyn 's Pratt Institute, competitors participate in preliminary meets and semi-finals over five weekends in December and January. Finalists compete for trophies and educational grants-in-aid from Colgate-Palmolive Company at New York's Madison Square Garden at the end of January.

Hundreds of girls from all over the northeast participate and only the top 6 in each age group get to compete in the finals.

Westchester Striders Compete in AAU Cross Country Nationals in Virginia Beach!

Among the 2,000 runners who competed in the AAU Cross Country National Championship in Virginia Beach on December 1, 2007 were 8 members of the Westchester Striders.

Those running included:

• Sheldon Davis (age 8) who finished 4th in the Nation in the 2,000 Primary Boys event with a time of 7:56 (105 total runners);
• Veeral Shah (age 10) finished 10th in the 3,000 Bantam Boys event with a time of 11:19 (98 total runners);
• Briayanna Johnson (age 9) finished 37th in the 3,000 Sub-Bantam Girls race with a time of 13:56 (64 total runners);
• Dalila Johnson (Age 13) finished 79th in the 4,000 Sub-Youth race with a time of 17:46 (112 runners);
• Kalifa Johnson (age 11) and Sarah Stern (age 11) finished 74th (13:21) and 81st (13:35) in the 3,000 Sub-Midget Girls event (112 total runners);
• Isaah Claxton (age 11) finished 74th in the 3,000 Sub-Midget Boys race with a time of 12:58 (97 total runners);
• Thomas Samuels (age 12) finished 59th in the 3,000 Midget Boys event with a time of 12:22 (107 total runners)
